THE FINE FIVE - JULY 5, 2015:
(1) The past two days, instead of hitting up Planet Fitness, I've opted to "walk the mall" (The Mall at Wellington Green), to the tune of about 25,000 steps (that's around 13 miles). I have two start/stop points, depending on where I park: either the entrance to JC Penney, or next to Ruby Tuesday. Either way, it's about a 15-minute cycle, using both floors and approaching (but not entering) the anchor stores along the way. Sometimes I walk the escalators, sometimes I use them as a 30-second rest break every 7 minutes or so.
(2) Benefits of mall walking: occasionally bumping into people you know; slightly varying your pattern every lap; pretty sweet aromas wafting through the air from Yankee Candle, Perfect Oil, and other such stores; Starbucks; an Apple store to charge the iPhone if the battery dies.
(3) Negatives of mall walking: being hit on by aisle vendors (most of the time deflected by the use of headphones); no lockers or showers; occasionally bumping into people you know (but don't really want to know, ya know?); restaurants; lots of loud, little kids.
(4) USA! USA! USA! What the heck was that explosion that took place in the first 15 minutes of the Women's World Cup championship tonight?
(15) As for all the Twitter commentary during the game about Pearl Harbor ... not cool. Really, not cool.
